During the month we had a series of north-west cloudbands passing over the Ranges to boost the month’s rainfall to a 25 year record of 282.8 mm. This represents 149 mm over the 115 year average. It was a cool month with a mean temperature two degrees below average. We are on track for an above average annual rainfall. Evapotranspiration for the month was slightly down on the norm with 94 mm; whereas Bright Sunshine with 199 hours showed an increase on previous years.
Four thunderstorms were recorded, one with some spectacular lightning. The Range caught the tail end of a SEQ Severe Super-cell Thunderstorm that affected
Sultry conditions prevailed over the past week as a frontal system merged with an inland trough to bring a moist air flow and 90 per cent humidity to the Ranges. Although the daily maximum temperature on most days was recording mid-twenty degrees the heat stress factor – the temperature we feel – was registering 33 degrees!
