Sunshine and Showers Followed by Rain

Weekly Weather Summary

Maleny Weather in the Past Week

8th July 2008

During the week a high pressure system moved slowly east into the Tasman Sea, bringing a stream of moist wind, low level cloud and showers to the Ranges. Above this system was a northwest cloudband travelling east on a jet stream. The two systems combined with the result we had continuous rain, heavy at times. Rainfall so far this month is  76.8 mm representing  ten millimetres short of the 115 year average for the month. The lowest and highest temperatures were recorded on the same day, Wednesday 2nd, with 7.6ºC and 20.4ºC respectively.

OUTLOOK. A ridge of high pressure will develop over southeast Queensland bringing dry and cold SW winds to the Ranges, areas of wide spread frost are expected, especially in the gullies. Winds will tend to back SE over the weekend with the possibility of a slight shower or two. A cold front in NSW is heading our way for next week.
